OUR SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY

This is not your parents’ or your grandparents’ religious school – this is a bold, fun and new approach to Jewish learning through an experiential education model.

We celebrate together

  • The students get to know the services in a gentle, fun way.
  • We regularly celebrate holidays with the children and their whole families.

We learn together

  • On Sundays we use the well-respected Chai program to teach Torah, Avodah and G’milut Chasidim. We also use drama, music, art, dance and independent project work to let the kids experience Judaism using all their senses.
  • Midweek Hebrew Club is for grade 4-6 students. It provides the flexibility you need. You pick the day and we will work with you to provide a dynamic teacher to work with small groups to learn together at a time and place that works for you.

Chugim (Electives)

  • Cooking — In the kitchen, the students will learn recipes of the Torah and explore Jewish foods customs.
  • Dance — In this elective the students will learn Israeli dances. They can also choose to prepare for the city wide Festival Harikud.
  • Lego — Explore the Torah and its architecture in this hands on elective.
  • Art — The students will learn about Torah through creative expression using all of their creative talents – paint and collage are just the beginning.
  • Creative Judaism — This is a chance for students to use all their creative talents, to find ways to learn and teach in unusual ways – for example, to play and create games, photography, podcasts, film making and more.
  • Drama — For our many budding actors who want to take part in and possibly even write their own plays.
  • Hebrew Ulpan — A chance for our students to learn conversational Hebrew – the Hebrew of Israel.
  • Independent Projects — For any student who wants to delve deeper into a part of Jewish history, culture or custom, we will provide the support needed to do research, meet people who can help and really get to know a topic.
  • Krav Maga — Study Torah text and Jewish values through this martial art and self-defence system developed for the military in Israel.
